Mayrhofen

A little piece of Tyrol, a little piece of the world - this is Mayrhofen.

The tradition of a Tyrolean village, filled with flower-bedecked houses, the flair of a modern shopping zone with an international touch. Long-standing hotels and restaurants, modern bars, sporty fashions, rural folk costumes, the sounds of harps and of dance music. Apparent opposites that come together in perfect harmony here in Mayrhofen.

A place where relaxation and fun lie side by side. The enormous selection of sporting opportunities, the family-friendliness, a rich variety of entertainment programs and, above all, the Zillertal hospitality are some of the reasons why so many loyal guests return to the Zillertal year after year.

And if you see your vacation purely as an occasion to unwind and enjoy, then our local theatrical performances and numerous music festivals featuring the Zillertal's well-known musical ensembles will definitely be "just the ticket" for you!

Tradition

Here with us, you can also experience those authentic Tyrolean traditions and a rich cultural heritage that continue to be treasured and carefully preserved. The silent processions of supplication in early summer, and our festive parades - beautiful occasions to pray for protection from damaging weather - are accompanied by local bands and heritage groups. Mountain masses held amid our glorious natural scenery once again draw locals and visitors to the mountaintops in autumn.

Of course, some traditions have changed over time. For example, the annual Almabtrieb parade - during which cattle are festively paraded back to the valley after spending the summer grazing in the hills - is now a colorful spectacle accompanied by thousands of spectators. Yet this event has still retained much of its original significance: a community celebration of the cows' safe, healthy return from the high country.
